REEES Graduate Student Assistant Position, Summer 2026

The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (REEES) is seeking a Graduate Student Assistant (20 hours per week) for Summer 2026. Students must be enrolled in a graduate program in the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences to be eligible for this position.  

Responsibilities @ REEES (20 hrs per week):

  • Work with undergraduate and graduate students individually to help them revise their papers for publication in the 2026 REEESNe Student Conference Proceedings, to be published by August 1, 2026; provide content- and copy-editing, proofread student submissions, verify citations, ensure the consistency of style, and design the visual layout of the final publication. 
  • Assist the Center with data collection and preparation of materials for REEES grant reports and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Cannot hold a concurrent hourly student position;
  • Enrolled in a University of Pittsburgh graduate program in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences;
  • Proactive approach to responsibilities, planning and project management. Ability to take initiative;
  • Experience in proofreading and light content editing;
  • Excellent written, speaking and organizational skills; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team in an office environment where multitasking and detail-orientation are essential.

Preferred Requirements

  • Academic or professional experience related to Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Eurasia. 
  • Enrollment in a Ph.D. program

This position covers a stipend of approximately $10,000 for the duration of the appointment.
