The Center for African Studies offers a wide-range of services for academic and cultural support in the area schools. The activities include arranging for visiting speakers to the schools, travelling seminars abroad to Africa for educators, and teaching African workshops to increase general knowledge about Africa and to enhance understanding of African cultures and societies for all our stakeholders.

Tailored Classroom Visits

Members of the Center for African Studies team visit local classrooms and provide students with an immersive experience into African Culture.

K-12 Lesson Plans

Find lesson plans created on Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad to various African Countries. Feel free to utilize these plans in whatever way they fit into your classroom schedule/curriculum!

Africa in the Classroom Workshop

The Center for African Studies hosts a local Africa in the Classroom Workshop every spring. We bring together K-12 educators to workshop on teaching Africa in schools.

High School Model African Union

The goal of MAU is for students to study the role, structure, and activities of the African Union as well as the capabilities and constraints that shape the policies of AU member states in the arena of the intra-African diplomacy.

Community Partners
